Matching cribs create a unified look, allowing you to personalize for each baby with bedding and accessories. Consider the colors you have in mind for the walls and bedding when deciding on your furniture finish; rich espresso tends to create a stronger contrast with surrounding colors than white. If you're using a different color bedding for each baby, choose a finish that you'll love with both.
If you put your baby to bed with a pacifier or teether, never tie it around their neck. When you are ready to put your baby down to sleep, there should be nothing around their neck and that includes bibs and necklaces. Make sure the side rail is fully locked when raised. Put the mattress in its lowest position once your child can stand in the crib by itself. Remove any and everything that they could possibly stand on to try and climb out including any stuffed animals or toys.
Safety, as always, every crib from Pottery Barn Kids is rigorously tested to meet or exceed all required and voluntary safety standards enacted by the US Product Safety Commission, the American Society of Testing Manufacturers and the Canadian Crib and Cradles Regulations. For more information, see our crib safety tips.
Floor space is often at a premium in a shared nursery, so seek out compact, versatile furniture. Select the cribs first. To maximize value, consider convertible cribs that convert to toddler beds and to full–sized headboards. You may want to start with portable bassinets or Moses baskets for the early months, which make it easy to separate a waking baby from a sleeping one.
